Al-Burhan dismisses the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Information and Endowments
n Sunday evening, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council in Sudan, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan , issued a decision to terminate the assignment of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hussein Awad, the Minister of Information, Graham Abdel Qader, and the Minister of Endowments, Osama Ahmed, and to appoint replacements for them.
The Sovereignty Council said in a statement that Al-Burhan issued a decision to adopt the decision of the Transitional Council of Ministers, which stipulates ending the assignment of Hussein Awad Ali Muhammad from the duties of Minister of Foreign Affairs and approving the assignment of Ali Youssef Al-Sharif as his replacement.
On April 17, Al-Burhan appointed Hussein Awad as Minister of Foreign Affairs, succeeding Ali Al-Sadig.
On Sunday, Al-Burhan also issued a decision to terminate the assignment of Minister of Culture and Information Graham Abdel Qader from his duties, and to approve the assignment of Khaled Ali Al-Aiser, in addition to a decision to terminate the assignment of Minister of Endowments Osama Hassan Mohamed Ahmed, and to approve the assignment of Omar Bakhit to the same position, according to the same source.
These ministerial amendments come amid a war waged by the Sudanese army, led by Burhan, against the Rapid Support Forces, led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo ( Hemeti ), since mid-April 2023, which has left more than 20,000 dead and more than 11 million displaced and refugees, according to United Nations reports.
