IOM: War and hunger cause the displacement of more than 10 million Sudanese

A report by the International Organization for Migration stated that more than 10 million Sudanese, or 20% of the population, have been displaced since the beginning of the war, and as the largest displacement crisis in the world continues to worsen, this figure is the latest on the number of displaced people in this country torn by a conflict that broke out in April 2023. The war left half of the population of about 50 million people facing a hunger crisis and in need of humanitarian aid more than any other country in the world.

A bi-monthly report by the International Organization for Migration stated that more than 2.2 million people have fled to other countries since the outbreak of the war, while about 7.8 million have been internally displaced. There were already another 2.8 million displaced due to previous conflicts in the country.
