Ministry of Social Development discusses joint cooperation with the African Development Bank mission

Mr. Ahmed Adem Bakhit, Minister of Social Development at the Ministry’s premises, received the African Development Bank mission led by Mr. Peter Iqwang, Director of the Capacity Building Project, Mr. Morse, Director of Programmes and Projects and accompanying delegation in the presence of Mr. Jamal Nile Abdullah, Undersecretary and Dr.

The meeting discussed ways of joint cooperation between the Ministry and the Bank in addition to identifying the work of the Ministry’s units and departments as well as the progress of the capacity-building project in the Ministry and discussing challenges and constraints and how to overcome them.

Ahmad Bakhit praised the Bank’s significant role in capacity-building and poverty alleviation in the country and welcomed the return of the mission and the hearing of their observations, regretting the circumstances in which the country was experiencing the suspension of work during the past period, especially since the project was directed at citizens and vulnerable groups and was supposed not to politicize such issues that affected citizens.

Calling for the completion of the seven states of Darfur, Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan, which have emerged from war and are experiencing the voluntary return of the country’s main production areas.

For his part, Mr. Peter Ban revealed that the capacity-building project was designed to alleviate poverty and that this improvement does not achieve access to primary health services and interventions during the course of work. The Ministry was selected as the appropriate entity for the implementation of the project.

He added that the visit included Khartoum State and White Nile State to address all problems with the project and the possibility of a new cycle.

Dr. Awad Musnad, Director of the capacity-building project, stated that the mission’s visit was supervisory and periodic and that the project provided health and social interventions in the area of health insurance, microfinance and training. The Government contributes an estimated amount to the project.
