Children’s Council and World Children’s Organization Sign Memorandum of Understanding
The National Council for Child Welfare signed a memorandum of understanding with the World Children’s Organization for joing effort to improve the situation of children in the country.
The Secretary- General of the National Council for Child Welfare, Dr. Abdul Qader Abdullah Abu , said that despite the situation in the country, the council seeks to increase spending on the children education and health.
During his address to the launching of the workshop on the study of public spending directed at children organized by the council, he pointed to the council’s work on developing a scientific methodology for upgrading children until reaching safety with children, stressing on the need to work on the social and preventive side, describing the fund for social responsibility support for childhood, which was established for the first time in the country as an indicator of childhood wellness.
The workshop also reviewed the study of government spending directed at children in Sudan at the national and state levels at the council’s headquarters today, where the study was conducted on each of the Red Sea, South Kordofan, Blue Nile and Central Darfur states and the study that showed the poor luck of children of spending on education and health as well as culture domains and social responsibility programs that took place in the years of 2023 in the presence of representatives of these states.
It is worth mentioning that the workshop was attended by many people interested in childhood, including the Director of Director of the Department of Human Rights, Women and Children Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , ambassador Osman Abu Fatima, UNICEF and a number of civil society organizations .
The workshop also witnessed several interventions calling for the necessity to increase spending on children, especially at the states in order to remedy the cases of malnutrition and stunting that have increased in some states of the country.
