Sudanese army announces the killing of dozens of rebel Rapid Support Forces

Violent explosions sounded in Al-Mamoura neighborhood, southeast of the capital, Khartoum, as a result of artillery shelling by the Sudanese army, targeting positions of the Rapid Support Forces.

And the Sudanese army announced, on Monday evening, that its forces had carried out air strikes south of Khartoum, which left “dozens of members of the Rapid Support Forces dead.”

army spokesman Brigadier General Nabil Abdullah said in an audio recording on Facebook. “Our air forces carried out successful strikes in the Soba area and areas south of Khartoum, which led to the destruction of dozens of vehicles, and dozens of deaths among the ranks of the rebel militia (Rapid Support)”

Since mid-April, the army and the Rapid Support Forces have been engaged in clashes that a series of truces did not succeed in stopping, leaving more than 3,000 dead, most of them civilians, and about 3 million displaced persons and refugees inside and outside the country, according to the United Nations.
