Al-Burhan: Renews his commitment to completing the transition phase to the democratic transition in Sudan
The President of the Transitional Sovereign Council, General Abdul Fatah al-Burhan, reaffirmed his commitment to complete the transitional phase in order to achieve the democratic transition, stressing the support of the Sudanese government and the Sovereign Council for the tripartite mechanism’s efforts to advance the process of dialogue between the Sudanese factions to achieve national reconciliation and resolve the current political crisis.
During his meeting today, the President of the Sovereign Council briefed the tripartite mechanism, consisting of the United Nations, the African Union and IGAD in the presence of Ambassador Ali al-Sadiq, Minister for Foreign Affairs in charge, on the arrangements for the commencement of direct dialogue on the day after Wednesday.
Ambassador Ali al-Sadiq, Minister for Foreign Affairs in charge, said in a press statement that the Mechanism welcomed the decision to lift the state of emergency and release the detainees, noting that the tripartite mechanism provided an insight to the President of the Council on the conduct and conduct of consultations during the past period and the ongoing steps following the announcement of the direct dialogue between Sudanese groups after Wednesday.
The Foreign Minister noted that the meeting reviewed the topics to be raised during the direct dialogue process on Wednesday, the aim of which was to present them and the expected outcomes of the dialogue.
