Tribal clashes claim dozens of lives in Darfur

At least 30 people have been killed and dozens injured over the past three days, in a tribal conflict in South Darfur, western Sudan.

Areas southwest of Nyala witnessed acts of tribal violence between the “Bani Halba” (Arab) and Salamat tribes in the state of South Darfur.

Local sources said: One of the reasons for the clashes between the two tribes is their support for different parties in the conflict in Sudan.

This time, the conflict took place between the “Bani Halba” (Arab) and Salamat tribes. Previously, a few weeks ago, fighting broke out in the state of West Darfur between Arab tribes and Masalit.

These battles have been raging for three days, as a number of citizens’ homes were burned as well as a fuel station, and more than 30 people were killed as a result of these clashes.

Some sources say that these clashes came as a result of disputes, and one tribe accusing the other of stealing the livestock of these tribes.

These events coincide with the renewed violent clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, on Saturday morning, in the capital, Khartoum, with heavy and light weapons.
