The Sudanese Foreign Ministry accuses the “Rapid Support” of destroying Khartoum

As battles intensified between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in Khartoum, the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Monday that the support forces “resorted to sabotage operations as part of their systematic campaign to destroy the capital.”

The ministry said in a statement: “The rebel militia continues its heinous terrorist crimes aimed at eliminating the components of the state in the country.”

The ministry added: “Over the past two days, the rebel militia has resorted to sabotage operations as part of its evil and systematic campaign to destroy the national capital.”

It noted that it “targeted a number of major and important economic institutions and commercial buildings in the country, which are among the pillars of the national economy.”

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry stressed that “this crime is in addition to the previous atrocities of the rebel militia, such as ethnic cleansing and genocide in West and South Darfur, the expulsion of the capital’s residents from their homes and occupation, and the plundering of banks, markets, factories, and citizens’ property and cars.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to “condemn these barbaric crimes and classify the Rapid Support Forces as a terrorist group.”

She stressed “the ability of the Sudanese people to defeat the plan to destroy the Sudanese state and restore its institutions.”

Since fighting broke out in Sudan between the army led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo on April 15, about 7,500 people have been killed and the actual numbers are likely to be much higher.
