Ethiopia: Ready to resume negotiations with Sudan and Egypt
A prominent Ethiopian official stated that his country was ready to resume negotiations with Egypt and Sudan on the controversial Renaissance Dam, which would be Africa’s largest hydropower plant.
Sileshi Bekele, a former Ethiopian negotiator on the dam and current ambassador to the United States, commented during a meeting with the new U.S. special envoy to the Horn of Africa, Mike Hammer.
A statement issued by Ethiopia’s Foreign Affairs on Friday, according to Sky News, highlights Ethiopia’s “interest in the resumption of the African Union-led tripartite negotiations on the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.”
