Hemeti briefed on the situation in the Darfur region

Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Hemeti, Vice-President of the Sovereign Council, met today with the Darfur Regional Government under the chairmanship of the Governor of the Territory, Minni Arko Minawi, and Vice-President D. Manawi. During the meeting, Hemedti briefed on the situation in the Darfur region and the outcomes and recommendations of the Darfur Governor’s Conference held in Khartoum on June 8 and 9.

The Deputy Governor of the Darfur Region-designate, Mohamed Issa Aliyu, said in a press statement that the meeting had discussed all thorny issues, including securing agricultural marking, movement of herders and security situations in Western Darfur.

The meeting had stressed the need to continue meetings to discuss security, development and services issues in the Darfur States.
