Killed and wounded in artillery shelling for rapid support at Amdurman Hospital
On Monday, some 10 people were killed by artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeting a major hospital in Omdurman, according to medical sources.
Military confrontations between the army and the RSF have intensified in large areas of Omdurman, where RSF is seeking to blockade army camps located in Karri locality, including the Wadi Sedna military base, from which most of the warplanes targeting RSFs are flying in the three cities of Khartoum.
“Three people were killed immediately and seven later died of their injuries following the targeting of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for the Amber accidents at the hospital,” the medical director of the Nu Somiya Mohammed Hospital said.
A medical paramedic at the hospital, preferring to withhold his name, said that the targeting of the Nou hospital over the past days had led to the evacuation of a large number of patients and the departure of doctors for the safety of their lives.
Over the past two weeks, the Nou hospital has been targeted by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), where the medical facility is located in the suburb of Al-Thawra in Karri locality, north of Omdurman, under the control of the armed forces.
Fighting between the parties to the armed conflict in the Sudan caused the discharge of most hospitals in Khartoum State, most of which were occupied by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), while others were shelled and destroyed by the army’s artillery and warplanes.
The disruption of health facilities in Khartoum has exacerbated the deterioration of the health situation and the high prevalence of epidemics, with a large scarcity of medicines for most pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies to be looted and vandalized.
