Sudan participates in sustainable development meetings in conflict zones in Cairo
The Sudan participated with a delegation headed by Dr. Amin Saleh Yassin, Under-Secretary for Economic Planning of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, in the first meeting of the Subcommittee of “Multi-stakeholders to support the achievement of sustainable development goals in conflict-affected States in the Arab region”.
The meeting held by the Arab League (Department of Sustainable Development and International Cooperation) on Wednesday in Cairo and the regional workshop on the Regional Initiative for Climate Security in Arab States, attended by members of the Committee and with the participation of a number of relevant Arab and United Nations organisations and a number of experts on development issues.
The meeting reviewed national efforts to achieve sustainable development goals in conflict-affected States, as well as the discussion of the report prepared by the Arab Committee to follow up on the implementation of sustainable development goals in conflict-affected States.
The meeting also discussed a number of mechanisms for mitigating the impact of conflicts on the most needy groups, stressing the need to create more partnerships and initiatives that drive development action in these countries in order to enhance opportunities for sustainable peace and development.
The Sudan will participate in the eleventh meeting of the Arab Committee to follow up the implementation of the goals of sustainable development, to be held on Thursday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League.
