Cara receives the chairman of the Political and Economic Committee of the U.S. Embassy
Mr. Abbas Abdullah Kara, Governor of the Blue Nile Region in charge of the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning of his office, received Mr. Justin Williamson, Chairman of the Political and Economic Committee of the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum.
Upon arrival at the United States Embassy, Mr. Chancellor held a joint meeting with the territorial Government under the chairmanship of the Governor-in-Charge. The meeting addressed the objectives of Mr. Chancellor of the United States Embassy’s visit to the Territory in support of the country’s democratic transition in general and the implementation of the Juba Peace Agreement.
The Governor-in-Charge addressed the current situation and the remedies taken by the territorial Government to address the challenges, notably the repercussions of recent events, as well as the steps taken within the framework of the implementation of the Juba Peace Agreement for the Sudan.
The Peace Agreement had fulfilled the aspirations of the Blue Nile, pointing to the gains made under self-government and calling for the importance of the United States Embassy’s contribution to supporting investment along with humanitarian and development support in the region.
The Ministers of Social Welfare, Health and Agriculture and the Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid provided integrated insights into the territorial Government’s programmes to support human and health conditions as well as agricultural and animal investment.
For his part, the United States Embassy Adviser provided information on the objectives of his visit to the Territory, including support for democratization, monitoring the implementation of the Juba Peace Agreement for the Sudan and identifying the achievements made in the Territory in general and the current situation following the recent events in the Territory.
