FM Undersecretary discusses with UK ambassador strengthening of relations between the two countries
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dafa’allah Al-Haj Ali met, at his office on Tuesday, the British ambassador in Khartoum Giles Lever.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries and the developments of the regional situation in order to achieve peace and stability in the region.
The meeting underscored the importance of the role played by Sudan in the security and stability of the region. The two sides expressed their common concern over the renewed fighting in Ethiopia, and agreed on the importance of resolving the conflict through peaceful means through African mediation. Meanwhile, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Sudan’s supportive stance to the peace achievement in the region, negotiation processes, peaceful solutions and the efforts of the African Union to find African solutions to African problems, stressing the importance of opening humanitarian relief corridors, delivering aid to those affected, maintaining the truce declared between the two parties, and supporting the efforts aiming to achieve peace through a peaceful negotiating solution.
For his part, the British ambassador expressed his country’s support for efforts to achieve peace in Africa.
