TSC Vice-President Meets Director for Africa at the European External Action Service
Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, met with the Director for Africa at the European External Action Service, Ms. Rita Laranjinha, who is currently visiting Khartoum, as part of a tour that includes Somalia and Ethiopia.
The meeting discussed cooperation relations between the EU and Sudan as well as the EU’s efforts to support the democratic transition in light of the framework agreement signed last December and efforts being made to form a civilian government.
The TSC Vice President expressed Sudan’s appreciation for the efforts of the European Union in supporting stability in Sudan and the region, stressing the importance of joint coordination on issues of interest to both sides.
Daglo renewed commitment of the military establishment to exit the political work and form a civilian government that meets the aspirations of the Sudanese people.
For her part, Ms. Laranjinha affirmed that her visit to Sudan comes within the framework of supporting the political process in the country and pointed out that her message from the European Union to the Sudanese people is stressing the need to reach an agreement and form a civilian government, adding that they are ready to provide support to achieve stability, and announced the European Union’s support for Sudan, especially in the fields of agriculture and humanitarian aid.
