Sudan Wins Three Medals in Continental Championships
The Sudan Taekwondo team won three gold medals and a bronze medal through the Pomse players Salma Sayed and Hussein Ishaak at the African Taekwondo Championship in the Rwandan capital of Kigali, ranked G4 as the highest continental ranking with the participation of forty African countries.
Hussein Ishak finished third alone and was awarded the bronze medal after a fierce competition with a large number of African players. Salma Al-Sayyyid Solo delivered a distinguished performance for her gold medallists, and both participated in doubles as gold medallists for Sudan with excellent performances in Sudan’s first overseas appearance in doubles.
The Head of Mission, Adel Abdel Rahman Mahdi, expressed his immersive pleasure at this achievement and stressed that the players were at the event level and that the early preparation had had an impact on these outstanding results.
For his part, the Chargé d ‘affaires of the Embassy of the Sudan in Kigali, Ali Mohamed Ali Hamida, who has been with UNMIS since its arrival, expressed his pleasure at achieving and removing the name of the Sudan at this major forum.
For his part, the manager of the team, Austrian expert Gonther Atarbor received praises especially after the outstanding appearance of the players of the Sudanese national team and their medals on the first day of the tournament.
The remaining players are expected to take part in Al-Jarouqi two days later. The Sudanese Federation worked hard to prepare this team, whose training has been ongoing since early February in preparation for this tournament and for the Islamic Solidarity Championship next August.
