(47, 893) Tons of corn US humanitarian assistance to Sudan
It arrived in the northern port of Port Sudan today (47, 893) tons of maize as part of the United States’ humanitarian support to the Sudan.
The shipment was received at the port by His Excellency Ambassador John Gudfrey of the United States to the Sudan and his accompanying delegation from the World Lunch Programme in the presence of the Director-General-designate of the Maritime Ports Authority, Engineer Ibrahim Yusuf.
Referring to the evolving relations between the two countries, the United States Ambassador and his accompanying delegation met with the Director-General of the Seaports Authority and his deputies at the Port Authority’s buildings in Port Sudan. The delegation heard a detailed explanation of the work of the Authority and its ongoing effort in technical development and the development of modern mechanisms and equipment to improve handling and efficiency of performance in cooperation with international companies specialized in the maritime transport industry.
The delegation also heard an enlightenment on the role of the Seaports Authority in receiving United Nations food assistance to African non-seabed States.
