After calling it a lack of transparency… African Union withdraws from tripartite mechanism

The African Union announced its withdrawal from the tripartite mechanism to resolve the Sudanese political crisis.

The African Union’s Special Representative to the Sudan, Mohamed Belish, said after meeting a number of African ambassadors on Tuesday that the Union could not continue on a path that was not followed by transparency, honesty, non-exclusion and respect for all actors and their equal treatment.

“The Union does not ask for any role and does not object to any way the Sudanese choose to arrange their home and resolve their crisis” he said.
