An upcoming visit to Al-Burhan to Doha
The President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, is expected to visit Doha later in the coming period, and Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari said that his country will be “one of the stops” for Al-Burhan, who is on a tour of a number of countries.
According to Al-Ansari, “Qatari-Sudanese relations have always been characterized by continuous communication, and visits of this kind are not surprising.” He vehemently denied that he was aware of “a mediation request that has been or will be directed to Qatar,” but he reiterated Qatar’s stance in favor of an end to the conflict and a truce in Sudan.
According to certain Sudanese sources, Al-Burhan will land in Doha tomorrow, Thursday, making Qatar the third nation he has visited since clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces last April began.
Al-Burhan had completed his visit to Juba the day before yesterday, during which he met the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, and the first stop for Al-Burhan was Egypt, which he visited last week.
