Civilians and military personnel within the Sudanese delegation to Geneva

A senior military source in the Sudanese army told that there are civilians and military personnel participating in the Khartoum delegation that arrived in the Swiss city of Geneva to attend UN-led talks with the aim of brokering a ceasefire agreement, facilitating the arrival and distribution of humanitarian aid, and protecting civilians.

The source indicated that the delegation will not engage in direct meetings with representatives of the Rapid Support Forces, and added that the delegation will convey the government’s point of view on humanitarian issues to UN officials.

On the other hand, a senior source in the Rapid Support Forces told that they have begun holding meetings with UN officials, headed by the personal envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Sudan, Ramtane Lamamra.

The source added that direct meetings between the delegations of the army and the Rapid Support Forces were not originally on the agenda of these meetings, and that these negotiations are designed to be mediated indirectly by the United Nations.
