Merghani commends Egypt, Saudi Arabia and their continued support for the success of the transition in Sudan
Sudanese leader Maulana Mohamed Osman al-Mirghani, Chairman of the Sudanese Democratic Unionist Party, commended the efforts made by Egypt and Saudi Arabia to make the transition in the Sudan a success.
Merghani appreciated the statement on the Sudan in the joint final statement on the occasion of the visit of Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister to Cairo, and his meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who affirmed Egypt and Saudi Arabia’s determination to continue their support for the success of the transition period and encourage dialogue between the Sudand Sud.
The Egyptian-Saudi call is timely and responds to national demands to involve national political actors in making policies and decisions on Sudan’s future plans and aspirations.
The Merghani leader stressed the depth of historical and strategic relations between the three countries (Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt) and the importance of strengthening, developing and upgrading them to the highest levels, in order to achieve common goals and interests.
On the other hand, the Merghani leader regretted the African Union’s suspension of its participation in the Sudanese peace negotiations through the tripartite mechanism and called on him to continue his role with other partners to facilitate the Sudanese national dialogue aimed at charting a road map for the future towards a genuine democratic transition and creating an atmosphere for elections.
