Minister of Agriculture commends FAO in the development of agriculture in Sudan
The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Abubakar Omar Al-Bashri, reviewed the FAO Resident Representative, Mr. Baba Qana Ahmadu, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Technical Secretariat for Food Security, Dr. Fatima Al-Hassan.
The Minister commended FAO’s significant role in the development of agriculture in the Sudan as a value of FAO’s efforts to engage and support the implementation of the Sudan Strategic Plan for Food Security in seven states.
His Excellency called for the expansion of the institutional frameworks in the rest of the states of Northern and River Nile States to be candidates for climate change and requested FAO to provide seeds for the agricultural staircase project.
He called for the importance of FAO’s participation in the 1 million acre wheat cultivation initiative.
For his part, Mr. Baba Qana Ahmadu promised that FAO would intervene in assisting the Initiative at its various stages. He also promised to provide seeds for the Agricultural Husbandry project and support the expansion of the implementation of the food security plan in the rest of the states through cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Technical Secretariat for Food Security.
