Northern Darfur Patient Benefit Fund launches children’s protection project in vulnerable areas
The North Darfur State Patient Benefit Fund launched the project to protect children and provide initial psychosocial support and referral systems for legal support to children in vulnerable areas through the Fund’s first training course, organised today at its headquarters in El Fasher, for 45 protection officers, coordinators, mentors and social researchers in some of the state’s localities, in cooperation with the state Ministry of Welfare and Social Development Development with the support of UN.

In the state of Dafullah Al-Fateh Al-Arqiya, the opening of the session, stating that the training of coordinators, guides and social researchers from the localities marks the launch of work in the implementation of the project for the protection of children in vulnerable areas of the state, The Protection and Environmental Sanitation Sections are new objects introduced by UNFPA to integrate the provision of health and nutrition services by UNFPA to the Northern Darfur community’s rights”, stressing the importance of the role of social workers in promoting the protection of children, especially in areas of social, health and nutritional vulnerability.
The coordinator of the Protection Programme of the Amira Abubakar Yahya Patients’ Aid Fund explained that the course was aimed at 45 participants and protection officers from four localities to cover 10 areas selected as child-friendly areas of localities and camps for displaced persons, adding that the course would last for five days during which initial psychosocial support and referral systems for children in vulnerable situations would be trained.
