Repulsed the rebel RSF’s attack on Sennar, and the army bombed them in El Fasher

A source told Sudan Scoop that Sudanese army planes bombed – in the early hours of Friday morning – positions of the Rapid Support Forces in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.

The source stated that intermittent clashes with weapons took place between the two sides at midnight last night.

The army announced that the Special Action Forces “defeated” the Rapid Support Forces in the city of Sinnar in the center of the country. He indicated in a statement that the Rapid Support had suffered heavy losses, and published pictures that he said were of his forces on the battlefield in the city of Sennar.

Military sources close to the army reported that the Rapid Support Forces attacked the city of Sennar from several axes yesterday morning. Other sources also reported that Sudanese army aircraft launched a series of raids on Rapid Support sites in the Jabal Muya area in the center of the country.

The Rapid Support Forces are seeking to control Sennar State, as part of their efforts to consolidate their control over the center and west of the country, which has led to the displacement of more than 200,000 people, according to the Sudanese News Agency (SUNA).

The war broke out in April last year between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces. The United Nations says that about 25 million people – about half of the country’s population – need aid, and that famine is looming on the horizon, while about 10 million have left their homes.
