Rights Group and Activists Launch (SOWV)

A group of Sudanese activists and human rights advocates have launched the Sudanese Observatory for War Violations on April 15th.

The observatory aims to document and monitor violations resulting from the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.

The observatory’s founding statement explained that it aims to collect information and evidence with legal value to prosecute the perpetrators of crimes, assist in their judicial pursuit, and help victims. The initiative also seeks to highlight the human aspects that are not emphasized in battlefield conditions.

The observatory collects necessary evidence such as photos and videos directly from victims and relies primarily on public participation to share documents and evidence while retaining documents of violations with specialists.

The observatory also intensifies media coverage to expose violations and their effects and raise awareness of necessary preventive behaviors before and after violations occur.
