Sudan’s participation: launching of the regional conference on migration and climate change in Kampala
The Regional Ministerial Conference on the Impact of the Environment and Climate Change on Migration with the participation of United Nations organizations, the African Union and the Government Authority for Development (IGAD) was opened today.
This year’s Conference is supported by the Regional Office of the International Organization for Migration in Eastern Africa and the Horn of Africa (IOM), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change as well as the Regional Cooperation Centre (RCC) of the East African Development Bank (EADB) in Uganda.
Conference participants discuss enhancing cooperation on climate change, migration, displacement and resettlement of displaced persons and aim to develop an integrated approach to climate change mobility while further addressing the effects of climate change on human mobility in the region.
It is worth mentioning that the Sudan participates in a delegation comprising representatives of the Supreme Council for the Environment and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior.
