The director of the IGAD mission has been working to contain threats facing its states
Mr. Ousmane Belil, Director of the IGAD Mission in the Sudan, addressed the opening meeting of experts of the IGAD member States in preparation for today’s ministerial meeting in Corinthia, Khartoum. He said that IGAD had been working to contain the threats facing the region, which had been caused by the drought that had hit the region.
Mr. Belil praised the efforts of health workers working to protect citizens of the IGAD countries, adding that the IGAD region has witnessed an improvement in the security situation in view of the efforts made by the leaders.
It is clear that the challenges faced by the IGAD countries make them strong and united in realizing Member States’ common aspirations for peace, security and stability.
He also explained that this meeting discusses the topics of the humanitarian situation and the report of the work of the IGAD secretariat on projects through which the meeting comes out with the most important recommendations.
