The President of the Sovereignty Council receives a letter from the French President
The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, affirmed Sudan’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations with the Republic of France and to develop joint cooperation between them in various fields, in a manner that serves the common interests of the two countries.
Upon his meeting today, the French Ambassador to Sudan, Raja Rabia, in the presence of the Minister-designate Ali Al-Sadiq, received a letter of thanks from French President Emmanuel Macron, in response to the letter he sent to President Macron, congratulating him on his country’s National Day.
During his meeting with the French ambassador, the President of the Sovereignty Council praised Paris’ support for the democratic transition process in the country, expressing his thanks for the interest of French President Emmanuel Macron, and his keenness to support the transitional period and push the bilateral relations between Khartoum and Paris to broader horizons.
Regarding the progress of the democratic transformation process in the country, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council affirmed his keenness to complete the democratic transformation process in the country, leading to free and fair elections. He was also renewed the position of the armed forces not to cling to power, adding that they had been waiting for nearly ten months, waiting for the political forces to agree, noting that what the media had recently circulated about the intention of the military component to choose a prime minister was unfounded.
Al-Burhan called on the friends of Sudan to support the efforts of the tripartite mechanism to accelerate the process of the Sudanese national dialogue. In addition, the French Ambassador to Sudan, Raja Rabia, affirmed her country’s continued support for the country’s democratic transformation process, leading to free and fair elections at the end of the transitional period. She said she would carry Sudan’s demands in this regard to the leadership of her country.
The Ambassador thanked the President of the Sovereign Council, for his congratulatory message to President Emmanuel Macron, on the occasion of the celebration of France’s National Day. She stressed her country’s keenness to develop fields of scientific and cultural exchange between Khartoum and Paris, and that the French Embassy in Khartoum had taken a number of practical steps in this regard.
The ambassador affirmed Paris’s continued support for the agricultural sector in Sudan, and the joint meetings that are taking place between Sudanese and French businessmen within the framework of the strategic dialogue between the two countries in the economic aspect.
