The Sovereignty Council discusses putting an end to the conflict and reestablishing the route to democracy

Sudanese Sovereignty Council media said that Council President Abdel Fattah al-Burhan discussed today with the delegation of the “National Mechanism to Support Civil Democratic Transition” the cessation of fighting and its vision regarding restoring the peaceful, civil, democratic path.

The rapporteur of the mechanism, Adel Al-Mufti, said that the meeting reviewed efforts to create a national consensus that would lead to stopping the fighting and forming a temporary transitional authority, indicating that the outcomes of the meeting contained good news for the Sudanese people.

The Mufti confirmed the delivery of the road map prepared by the mechanism to Al-Burhan, which includes stopping the war and forming an emergency government that will undertake the tasks of implementing national obligations related to development and urbanization, relief for those affected by the fighting, and opening humanitarian corridors for aid to enter the states of Khartoum and Darfur.

On April 15, armed confrontations broke out between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in Khartoum and other areas. Both sides used heavy weapons, and the army vowed to continue fighting until the Rapid Support Forces were dissolved, while the Rapid Support Forces vowed to continue fighting.
