The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the France conference
Yesterday, the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned France’s hosting of a conference on the humanitarian situation in Sudan on April 15 without the government’s participation or consultation.
The ministry expressed in a statement its “deep astonishment and denunciation that this conference was held on an issue related to Sudan, an independent and sovereign state and a member of the United Nations, without consultation or coordination with its government and without its participation.”
Meanwhile, the United Nations warned yesterday that the humanitarian crisis resulting from the war in Sudan may worsen significantly in the coming months and may push some areas into famine.
The state of emergency may also extend to neighboring African countries unless the fighting stops, according to what United Nations agencies have explained, one year after the start of the war.
