UN official: Al-Burhan and Hamidti bear responsibility for the failure of the armistice
Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, said that there are serious violations as a result of the fighting in Sudan that amount to war crimes, noting that the army commander, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo (Hamidti), are responsible for the failure of the truce to succeed and its continuation until now.
He explained that the Secretary-General of the United Nations has been in contact with the Sudanese leaders since last Saturday, while the UN envoy, Volker Peretz, continues to coordinate with the League of Arab States and the African Union in order to enter into an open truce.
For the fourth day in a row, fierce battles continued between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, especially in Khartoum, where chaos prevailed, despite urgent international calls to stop the battles, which have so far claimed about 200 lives.
