Operationalizing the Agreement on Judicial Cooperation between the Sudan and Saudi arabia
A delegation from the National Mechanism for the Protection of Sudanese Abroad visited Saudi Arabia headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour in the framework of its tasks of providing legal aid to Sudanese abroad and discussing their issues.
Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Maulana Huida Ali Awad al-Karim, head of the national mechanism for the protection of Sudanese, said that the delegation met with the Deputy Minister of Justice of Saudi Arabia.
Maulana Hoida added that the main outcomes of the visit were the activation of bilateral agreements signed between the two countries and the establishment of a mechanism to activate them and the transfer of a number of Sudanese detained in Saudi prisons based on the Riyadh Arab Agreement on Judicial Cooperation. A matrix of administrative, criminal and civil cases was presented by an official letter for consideration exceptionally.
The delegation included the Secretary General of the Diaspora, the Head of the Consulate Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary General of the Zakat Diwan and representatives of the Council of Ministers. During the visit, the delegation met with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, the Undersecretary of the Interior and Foreign Affairs, the Chief Omof the OmBbudsman’s Office budsman and Saudi budsman.
The delegation will also undertake visits to the Arab Republic of Egypt. It is worth mentioning that the national mechanism for the protection of Sudanese abroad is a coordinating mechanism established by a decision of the Council of Ministers more than 30 years ago and restructured at the end of the year 2019 and began its meetings in May 2020 year.
Its head consists of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice ex officio and the Secretary-General of the Sudanese Service working abroad as alternate head and member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Labour, the Council of Ministers and the Zakat Office.
