Signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture and the International Committee of the Red Cross

Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture in charge of Aboubakar Omar al-Bashri has paid for cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

This came when it signed the Framework Convention to Support Small Farmers’ Agricultural Activities and Pastoral Agricultural Communities.

Mr. Al-Bashri said that the Convention was worthy of attention and that it was working to support those affected by conflict, support displaced persons, support hospitals and health facilities, and appreciate the partnership, cooperation and special efforts in the agricultural field by providing aid such as resilience and interest in small farmers.

For his part, Pascal Cota, head of the ICRC mission, stressed the importance of cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture to develop the agricultural sector.

FAO had developed a framework for prioritizing cooperation to achieve food security. One of FAO’s assistance programmes was the Seed Abundance Programme, which had been increased by about 500 tons and would continue for the coming year.

The Ministry of Agriculture was signed by Dr. Aboubacar Omar Al-Bashri, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry in charge of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Head of the ICRC Mission, Pascal Cota.
