Al-Burhan confirms Sudan’s potential for Green Middle East implementation
The President of the Transitional Sovereign Council, General Abdul Fatah al-Burhan, reaffirmed Sudan’s commitment to plans and programmes for the green transformation and the availability of Sudan’s potential and natural resources to be at the disposal of the green transformation mechanism.
Addressing the Green Middle East Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, he said, “On the sidelines of the climate summit, 27 in the presence of Egyptian President Abdelfattah el-Sisi, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia and Prime Minister, the Green Transformation is a global trend.
The President of the Sovereign Council confirmed that the Middle East Green Initiative in its previous, current and forthcoming version “, is the appropriate scientific and practical mechanism for absorbing and addressing the negative effects of climate change, Environmental conservation, land degradation treatment, forest cover, natural pastures and biodiversity s natural potential for land and water to implement the plans and projects of this initiative that are of mutual benefit to the States and peoples of the region. “The Sudan appeals to this Summit to contribute to addressing this challenge by funding programmes that address the effects of these waves of migration, displacement and refugee. The Sudan will prepare and update technical studies and programmes for all green basin and reserve projects, programmes for the collection of weapons by citizens and programmes for the treatment of migration, displacement and refugee phenomena, and water harvesting programmes and projects.”
He valued the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to address seriously the effects of climate changes in the jungle.
The Green Middle East Summit is being held under the chairmanship of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in partnership with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, in the presence of the world’s leading leaders and heads of state and government from the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Middle East, the Arab Mashreq countries and Africa.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi stressed in his speech the importance of holding this summit at this time, stating that the accession of countries to this initiative is evidence of the seriousness that countries in the Arab region attach to efforts to address climate change or to take effective action to adapt to the adverse effects of climate change.
The Middle East Green Initiative provides “an ambitious and clear road map for regional climate action that ensures coordinated efforts and a unified approach to addressing the consequences of climate change for the countries of the region and creating huge economic opportunities in the region, thereby promoting sustainable development and advancing economic diversification, benefiting future generations and opening up prospects for the green future.”
