Two-day session of ASBU kicks off
The two-day session of the Arab Media Conference, began at the hotel of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) under the slogan “Global Digital Hegemony and Arab Ways to Confront It”, in the presence of the General Supervisor of Official Media, Minister Ahmed Assaf and a number of information ministers and media officials in Arab countries.
During his speech at the opening of the second session of the conference, ASBU Director General Eng. Abdelrahim Suleiman warned of danger of the modern digitization and its negative impact on the identity of the Arab nation.
The Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs, Dr. Hayat Qatat Al-Qarmazi, stressed the necessity to confront challenges of the global digital as a tool to preserve society of its risks and dominance.
The Conference will also focus on the action plan and the strategy proposed to be followed in the Arab world by presenting several ideas, proposals, and perceptions in digital content, the technological and legislative fields and the idea of establishing Arab platforms as a safe option for the Arab region to preserve its common values.
It is to be noted that the Participants in the conference included many concerned Arab and non-Arab parties such as the Arab League, specialized Arab organizations, Arab Media ministers, regional broadcasting unions and digital media companies and Arab and international experts in media, economics, and sociology.
