NHRC delegation visits Northern State
The Deputy Wali (Governor) of the Northern State, Abdel Gadir Mohamed Saeed, received in his office a delegation from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) headed by Sarah Babiker Ahmed in the presence of members from the state security committee and the Commissioner for Voluntary and Humanitarian Work in the Northern state Dr. Abdel Rahman Ali Khairy.
The visiting delegation briefed the Deputy Governor on the objectives of the visit which aims to coordinate with all relevant authorities for the opening of NHRC office in Dongola to serve the two Northern and River Nile states states .
The deputy Governor welcomed the visit of the delegation, asserting the state’s government concern and keenness to overcome all obstacles and makes coordination and cooperation among all relevant authorities in order to open the office of the National Commission for Human Rights, indicating that it would be a real addition in the field of human rights in the state .
The Head of NHRC delegation said in a statement that the delegation received great cooperation and response from the state government.
The Commissioner of the Voluntary and Humanitarian Work Commission in the Northern State explained that the opening of an office of for NHRC would open new horizons for the two states in the field of human rights, noting that the delegation will meet with officials at Legal Department, the Public Prosecution, the State’s Police the General Intelligence Service, besides visiting Dongola Prison.
The visit of the delegation will continue until April, 10.
