Sudan participates in the WHO regional meeting
The Federal Minister of Health, in charge of D. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, Delegation of the Sudan to the WHO Regional Meeting No. 69 in Cairo.
The meeting discussed key themes related to coronavirus, health emergencies, epidemics and diets, as well as improving maternal and child health and reducing the burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases in the region.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Minister and his delegation held several meetings with delegation leaders and health ministers of the Territory, where he discussed the meeting with the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO). Tedros Ghebreyesus supports health in the Sudan by mobilizing international supporters and responding to the health emergency situation.
In his meeting with the Executive Director of Balkitsch, the Minister explained the situation in the Sudan and the urgent need to continue to support and increase the assessed share of global funding for health in the Sudan.
The global organization Balkets is the world’s leading supporter of health programmes, especially children’s vaccination programmes and the strengthening of health systems and communicable diseases.
The Minister revealed that he agreed with the Saudi Minister of Health, Dr. Fahd Al-Jalajal, to develop a practical implementation programme for the terms of the agreement discussed earlier, the most important of which is to make the best use of Sudanese human resources to support the health system in the Sudan and to open opportunities for joint training, secondment, visiting consultants and support training hospitals.
In addition to a number of other bilateral meetings with the Ministers of Health of Egypt, Somalia, Djibouti, Qatar, UAE, where a number of joint interlocutors were discussed.
