Acting Foreign Minister receives UN Secretary-General Special Representative for Libya
The Acting Foreign Minister Ambassador Ali Al-Sadig received, at his office the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya Abdoulaye Bathily.
The UN envoy to Libya briefed the minister on his initiative to restore political stability to Libya through the ongoing arrangements to bring together the Libyan factions in preparation for holding elections before the end of this year.
The minister affirmed Sudan’s readiness to support the steps of political and security stability in Libya, explaining that the stability of Libya is the stability of Sudan and the entire region.
Bathily also touched on the ongoing steps to remove mercenaries, militias and foreign forces from Libya in cooperation with Libya’s neighboring countries.
The Al-Sadig reaffirmed the importance of dialogue among the various Libyan parties to overcome differences with the aim of achieving stability in Libya.
