Ibrahim Jaber chairs the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Dealing with the United Nations
Member of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim of the Republican Palace, chaired the meeting of the Supreme National Committee for Dealing with the United Nations.
Ambassador Mohamed Said Hassan, a member of the Committee, explained in a press statement that the meeting had received information about the Sudan’s re-election to the Human Rights Council and the efforts made at various levels to achieve this achievement.
The meeting had discussed preparations for the human rights expert’s visit to the Sudan.
The Committee member noted that the meeting reviewed the highlights of the report of the Secretary-General of the United Nations on the situation in Abyei, ways of cooperation between the Sudan and the United Nations for the stability of the region, as well as the implications of the Security Council’s discussion of that report, given the positive movement of the Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan on the situation in Abyei in order to achieve development and the interests of its citizens.
Ambassador Mohamed Said added that the meeting had reached specific recommendations and guidance on the COMESA Tribunal and the Sudan’s subsequent commitments and benefits in the context of regional economic and trade cooperation.
