Sovereign member chairs the meeting of the High Committee for Dealing with the United Nations

Member of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Bahri Engineer Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim of the Republican Palace chaired the meeting of the Supreme National Committee for Dealing with the United Nations.

The meeting reviewed the results of United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix’s visit to the country during this November and his meetings with State officials.

The meeting was informed of the Security Council’s decision to renew the mandate and functions of UNISFA in maintaining security, stabilization and peaceful coexistence among the community components of the Abyei Area.

The meeting heard a report on the results of Mr. Volker Türk’s visit to the country from 12 to 17 November and his meetings with the President and Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, a number of officials of relevant State institutions, representatives of civil society organizations and United Nations agencies in the country, as well as the results of his visits to the Darfur region and his meetings with the Governor Länder.
