Atletico Madrid denies wanting to join Ronaldo
The president of Spanish club Atletico Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, said it was “impossible for Cristiano Ronaldo, an English Manchester United player, to join his team.”
Rumours continued throughout the summer transfer window of the former Real Madrid player’s desire to leave Manchester United after spending a season there, following the English side’s failure to qualify for the Champions League in the new season.
Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has been linked with a move for several European clubs, including Chelsea and Bayern Munich, with recent reports suggesting he could move for Atletico Madrid.
But this seems to have been denied by Cerezo, who told radio station Cobb: “I don’t know who invented this story of Ronaldo’s move to Atletico Madrid.”
He added: “This is certainly not true. impossible for him to come to Atletico Madrid “.
Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mennides were at Manchester United training on Tuesday to talk about his future.
Atletico Madrid will meet Manchester United in a friendly on Saturday in preparation for the new season.
