Denmark criminalizes burning of the Quran
Last Thursday, the Danish parliament passed a law criminalizing the burning of the Quran. The law prohibits disrespectful treatment of religious texts and effectively bans burning the Quran.
Similar steps in recent months have angered Muslim countries, communities, and societies in Europe.
The response from Al-Azhar in Egypt welcomed the appreciated step, stating that it reduces the intensity of hate speech against Muslims. They expressed hope that other European countries will take similar action against this act.
