Opening of crossings between the Sudan and Libya in order to achieve economic integration

The Libyan Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity Muhandis Abdul Hamid al-Dubibah announced the opening of outlets and crossings between the Sudan and Libya in order to develop economic cooperation relations and increase the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries.

The Libyan-Sudanese Forum on Economic Integration and Trade, organized on the sidelines of the meetings of the Board of Directors of the Libyan Chamber of Commerce in Tripoli with the participation of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture under the slogan “Free Zones and Transit Trade” in the presence of Libyan businessmen and officials of the relevant Libyan ministries, institutions and bodies.

Al-Dabibah said that taking advantage of the geographical location and the potential and resources of the two countries has become an urgent and important need to stimulate the transit trade between the Sudan, Libya, the Mediterranean and African countries.

The Libyan Government of National Unity will work to develop economic cooperation in all areas with all neighbouring countries, in particular with the Sudan.

Al-Dubib noted the Sudan’s agricultural land and water, stating that joint cooperation with Libya enables it to produce diverse food commodities to achieve its food security and provide for the needs of neighbouring countries.

“We will work to overcome the challenges facing transit trade by providing integrated infrastructure of roads, outlets and transportation to drive the economy and trade between the Sudan and Libya and its neighbouring countries,” he said.

He also stressed the seriousness required to activate the work of the Sudanese-Libyan Inter-Ministerial Committee for Economic Integration between the two countries in order to create open partnerships and produce cost-effective development solutions to provide materials to countries benefiting from transit trade.
