Minister of Irrigation participates in meetings of the Arab Water Council
Mr. Dhawalbeit Abdulrahman Mansour, Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources in Charge, participated in the meetings of the fifteenth session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Water, held Wednesday, 22 November, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The session discusses the actions of the implementation plan of the water security strategy in the Arab region to address future challenges and requirements for sustainable development, follow-up to the 2030 Plan for Sustainable Development in the Arab Water Region, and promote and support Arab cooperation in the exploitation of shared water resources.
Addressing the meeting, Engineer Dhawalbeit explained the magnitude of the damage to the water installations caused by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) insurgency, which affected the operation of these installations and adversely affected the lives of citizens, particularly the naval stations and Omdurman.
The Fifth Arab Water Conference opened on Wednesday under the theme “Sustainable development in the Arab region. Goal 6. Challenges and Opportunities “, to explore a future vision for achieving sustainable water security in the Arab world and adopt an inspiring road map for achieving sustainable Arab water security.
The meeting discussed a number of scientific papers and recommendations are expected to support the achievement of the sixth sustainable development goal.
Meetings of the technical committees of the Arab Conference and the Arab Ministerial Water Council began on Sunday, 19 November 2023, with the participation of technical delegations from various Arab countries. The technical delegation of the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources of the Sudan presented two projects to support the livelihoods of the Sudan by supporting the water sector.
